Advancing Inclusive Excellence in the College of Arts & Sciences

dei.jpgThe College of Arts & Sciences is committed to creating and maintaining an environment that is diverse and where all identities are fully included. Indeed, the University’s strategic framework, UNM 2040: Opportunity Defined, highlights the value of inclusive excellence. We anticipate that the College’s strategic plan, which will be completed over the next year, will include activities that promote diversity and inclusion.  In the interim, the College invites proposals for activities that will advance our efforts toward achieving greater diversity, equity, and inclusion. This call for proposals is deliberately broad in order to  provide the opportunity for a wide range of ideas to emerge. We welcome proposals that will initiate or continue key conversations or activities that advance this goal.

Proposals that meet the following criteria will be more favorably evaluated:

  • Applications that are informed by expertise and/or research on equity issues.
  • Activities are likely to involve, or improve the experience of, many people in the College.
  • Applicants from different units on one proposal.

The below guidelines must be followed:
  • Proposals are due February 2, 2024.
  • College of Arts & Sciences’ faculty and staff are eligible to apply for funds.
  • The proposed activities should not duplicate activities occurring elsewhere in the University, unless proposed in partnership.
  • The audience for the proposed activities should be faculty and staff in the College.
  • Activities must occur, or commence, in Spring 2024 or Fall 2024.
  • At the conclusion of the proposed activities, or period during which the activities were proposed to occur, applicants must submit a report that summarizes the activities and their outcomes.
  • Funds may not be used for UNM salary, graduate stipends, or non-standard payment to UNM employees, unless significant activity must occur during the summer.
