Scholarships
Dean's Office scholarships are offered in two cycles: an academic year application for endowed awards and a separate summer application for summer classes, travel, and degree completion. Many A&S departments also offer scholarships. Check with your department(s) for application and deadline information

Academic Year Scholarships
Submit one application to be considered for most Dean's Office scholarships. Be sure to complete your FAFSA before the deadline to be considered for need-based awards.Deadline: May 28, 2027Current A&S scholars should use the renewal form.

Summer Scholarships
Supports A&S majors taking a summer course to graduate, stay on track, or maintain Lottery Scholarship eligibility. Travel awards use a separate form.Deadline: May 7, 2027Summer Travel Awards have an earlier deadline of April 30, 2027 and use a separate application
Who Can Apply
Academic year and summer scholarships have different eligbility requirements. Individual awards within each may have additional criteria for minimum GPA or major.
Academic Year Scholarships
- Enrolled at the UNM Albuquerque campus
- Undergraduates pursuing a first BA or BS degree in an A&S major
- At least 30 completed credit hours by Fall 2027
- FAFSA submitted prior to the deadline to determine financial need (international students may submit a UNM State Aid application in place of FAFSA)
- Preference given to full-time students (enrolled in 12 or more credit hours)
Summer Scholarships
- Enrolled at the UNM Albuquerque campus
- Enrolled in at least 6 credits during Spring 2027
- Declared A&S major
- Demonstrates financial need
- Preference given to students near degree completion who need a summer course to remain on track for Summer or Fall 2027 completion

The Dean's office staff will review your eligibility for all endowed awards based on the information you provide in the Academic Year scholarship application.

- Name, UNM student ID number, and contact information
- Major or pre-major and anticipated graduation term
- Cumulative UNM GPA (pulled from your record)
- A personal statement (length and prompts vary by award)
- FAFSA submission (required for need-based awards) or UNM State Aid application for international students
Letters of recommendation are not required for most College scholarships but may be required for specific departmental awards.

Awards are reviewed by the College Awards Committee. Academic year notifications are sent in waves from June through August via UNM email. Summer award decisions are communicated ahead of the summer term.
Current A&S scholarship recipients use the renewal application linked above. The renewal form applies only to awards within the Academic Year set. Summer awards are one-term awards and do not renew.
Renewal typically requires continued enrollment, a minimum GPA, and continued declaration in an A&S program. Some awards specify a maximum number of years. Check your award letter for renewal terms.
Can I apply to both? Yes. Many students submit both the AY application and the Summer application. They are reviewed independently.
Can I apply for multiple awards within one application? Yes. Each portal automatically considers you for every award you qualify for within that set. There is no separate selection step.
Are scholarships only for high GPAs? No. The College offers merit, need-based, major-specific, returning-student, and degree-completion awards across both sets. Several have GPA requirements of 2.0 or 2.5.
How much are scholarships worth? Awards range from a few hundred dollars to amounts that cover tuition and fees. Summer Travel Awards are up to $1,300 per recipient.
What if I'm graduating in Summer 2027? The Summer Scholarships set is specifically designed to support summer completion. C.T. French, Chester French Stewart, and Summer Success are the relevant awards.
