Mission Statement
Mission
The mission of the CAS Office of Assessment is to support all courses, programs, and departments in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of New Mexico with developing and implementing sound self-assessment processes that will help them meet their own program goals.
Goals
The College of Arts and Sciences Assessment fulfills its mission in the following ways:
- Communicates assessment expectations for reporting processes and disseminates resources to support those processes to assessment contributors throughout the College.
- Provides guidance on best practices for academic assessment with an emphasis on unique needs of our College.
- Offers consultations each semester to cultivate strategies and best practices for tracking, documenting, and ultimately improving student learning outcomes and teaching practices across a diverse set of academic units.
- Coordinates the submission of program assessment plans, reports, and general education assessment artifacts from the College of Arts and Sciences to the Office of Assessment and Academic Program Review.
- Disseminates feedback on assessment processes and provides guidance on how to use assessment results to identify areas of strength, recognize opportunities for improvement, and intentionally direct curriculum development, instruction, and programming to provide learning experiences that better support student achievement and success.
