Professor Caves has been named the 2011 recipient of the Max Born Award of the Optical Society of America (OSA). As such he is being recognized for germinal contributions in quantum optics and information theory, including the foundations of quantum noise, the role of entanglement in quantum information processing, and the fundamental limits of quantum measurement.

The Award will be presented at OSA's Annual Meeting in San Jose, California, on October 17.
