Advising Philosophy

School is never out for the pro!  I enjoy helping others find and utilize the tools they need for success by using trusted systems and procedures that I find to be consistent and true.  As the Front Desk Advisor, I work as a liaison between students and the senior advisors, assisting in scheduling appointments and making sure that correct information is given out to reduce runaround.  I believe that patience and understanding are critical strengths, as well as being detail oriented.  I always try to stay positive, and am a true believer that your attitude has an incredibly large impact on those around you.

Advising Philosophy

I have a student centered advising philosophy. I want to be your ally at UNM! I use a number of different advising strategies when working with students including intrusive advising, developmental advising, and prescriptive advising. I enjoy working with students one-on-one and in group advising sessions here at UNM. I believe advising is a chance to ask questions, think critically about school and life goals, connect students to resources, and share opportunities. I’m a lifelong learner, and I’m always learning from my students.
