Congratulations Teaching Excellence Award Winners!

The College of Arts & Sciences extends the heartiest congratulations to the 2019 recipients of its Awards for Teaching Excellence:

  • Reuben “Jack” Thomas, Department of Sociology: Teaching Excellence Award for a Tenured or Tenure track faculty
  • Andrea Mays, Departments of American Studies and Women Studies: Teaching Excellence Award for a lecturer
  • Jillian Stafford, Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology: Teaching Excellence Award for a Teaching Assistant

In addition, Patricia Oakley, Department of Mathematics and Statistics, and Diana Habel-Rodriguez, Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, have received the William P. and Heather W. Weber Award for Teaching Excellence in Science or Math.

Each of these award winners will be recognized at a public awards ceremony on Friday, May 3, from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm in Ballroom C. This ceremony is jointly hosted by the Center For Teaching Excellence, Graduate Studies, and the College of Arts & Sciences.

The Center for Teaching Excellence will also be recognizing their own teaching award winners during the May 3 ceremony. Those honorees include these amazing instructors from the College of A&S:

  • Tamar Ginossar, Department of Communication & Journalism: 2019-21 Presidential Teaching Fellow
  • Bethany Davila and Cristyn Elder, Department of English: Outstanding Teacher of the Year
  • Noah Painter-Davis, Department of Sociology: New Teacher of the Year
  • Julianne Newmark, Department of English: Lecturer of the Year
  • Amy Gore, Department of English: Outstanding Teaching Assistant of the Year
  • Debra Nieto, Department of Spanish & Portuguese: Outstanding Teaching Assistant of the Year
  • David Paez, Department of Spanish & Portuguese: Outstanding Teaching Assistant of the Year
  • Camille Dwyer, Department of Earth & Planetary Sciences, Outstanding Teaching Assistant of the Year
  • Darin Brown, Department of Psychology, Outstanding Teaching Assistant of the Year
