This document was produced by UNM's Office of Assessment and provides an overview of various aspects of assessment, including information on creating Student Learning Outcomes and developing Assessment Measures. If you are new to assessment in general or at UNM in particular, this is the best place to start.

College Assessment Review Committee Grant Program

The College of Arts and Sciences has some funding available for departments to improve the assessment process and student learning in response to gaps identified during the assessment process. The number and amount of awards vary depending on the year's budget, but applications are accepted for awards up to $2000. The annual application deadline is April 30th and successful applicants will be notified by the end of May. A followup report will be requested at the end of the grant period for successful applicants.

Student Learning Assessment Mini Lessons: a great set of short screencasts on different aspects of student learning assessment, including ones on developing student learning outcomes (SLOs) and picking assessment measures.

Student Learning Assessment handbook by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education

Higher Learning Commission website: UNM’s Accrediting Agency. Includes resources on what they look for in accrediting schools, which includes a strong focus on learning assessment.

Collegiate Learning Assessment: a widely used tool used to assess learning at universities.  It is currently in use by UNM.

Voluntary System of Accountability: a consortia of institutions interested in improving learning assessment. Includes some assessment related resources.
