Advising Philosophy

I believe the purpose of advising is to effectively guide students through the degree of their choice by establishing trusting, professional, academic, and advising/mentoring relationships. An advisor should also help students by promoting the development of analytical and synthetical skills to leverage and utilize resources, and prepare students for future graduate programs or career by implementing academic, professional, and personal goal-accomplishing strategies.

About Me

I grew up in Tucson, Arizona but have lived in Albuquerque since 2008. My academic interests include immigrant rights, holistic advising, community engagement, access to higher education, and the retention, graduation, and graduate program enrollment of students of color.
